Growing up, I was promised that I would one day live the American dream if I only worked hard enough. Under this assumption, I graduated college and went on for a doctoral degree. I come from a family of limited means, and consequently, have had to wholly self-fund my education.
Something is wrong here. This is not the American Dream.
